Supervision Training and Experience

I have received supervision training through a doctoral supervision course through Yorkville University.

Model and Approach to Supervision

My approach to supervision is mainly developed around the developmental model of supervision and meeting the supervisee where they are at. It is my belief that we continue to grow and learn throughout our experiences and as such the style of therapy needs to shift with the development of skills. For more novice psychotherapists, my supervision style includes more structure and direction than for those who have further experience. I view my role as the supervisor to provide guidance and support so that supervisees can provide ethical and effective services to their clients. I intend to hold the role of teacher where I provide direction and education, the role of therapist where I hold a supportive stance in shaping the supervisee’s behaviour, and the role of consultant where client problems are collaboratively explored.

Objectives, Goals of Supervision, and Modalities

My main objective and goal for supervision is to have a working alliance. I will work with the supervisee(s) to set more specific goals such as incorporating assessment findings into treatment planning, case discussions involving case conceptualizations, developing competency in specific behavioural interventions, engaging in more culturally competent practices, working through conflicts, etc.
